Client Services Internship Opportunity

(Two Semesters)

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in supporting Site Based Mentoring relationships
  • Provide assistance to the Site Coordinator in the planning and implementation of Site Based activities for the volunteer mentors and youth
  • Candidate should be able to work without continuous direction from a supervisor
  • Candidate should be well organized and able to maintain accurate, concise documentation of activities
  • Candidate will be supervised by the Director of Client Services or the Director of Site Based Mentoring

Requires:

  • Two Semester Internship for the Fall and Spring Semester (summer Semester can also be considered)
  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor level Human Service Program (social work, psychology, sociology, etc.) or Education Program
  • Student at Sophomore level or higher
  • Must be in good academic standing
  • NYS Driver's License and Personal Transportation required
  • Minimum of two days a week, required hours of 2pm- 5:30pm
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

  • Candidate will also have interaction with volunteers and gain experience in helping to overcome barriers related to volunteerism and cultural awareness
  • Candidate will work at a Site in either a School or Community Center setting

Development Internship Opportunity

One Semester minimum

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Erie County is looking for candidates to serve as an intern for a minimum of one semester with our mentoring organization. Interns will work closely with our Development Department.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of agency special events
  • Assist in the creation of donor acknowledgements and solicitation
  • Assist in the recording of donor gifts and information
  • Conduct special donation requests under the direction of the Development Coordinator
  • Assist in the development of funding proposals

Requires:

  • Strong writing skills
  • Strong oral presentation skills
  • Professional demeanor
  • Currently enrolled in a degreed program

Benefits:

  • Candidate will gain valuable experience working within a non-profit Development Department under supervision of the Development Coordinator

Social Worker/Community Based Case Manager

While we do not currently have a vacancy for this position, we are continually reviewing applicants for this position and will keep resume submissions for future consideration.

Responsibilities:
Supervision, support and management of a caseload consisting of mentor-mentee matches. Includes responsibility for intake and assessment of youth clients, creation of volunteer-client matches, and regular supervision and follow-up. Candidates must have Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field, have well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse populations and have personal transportation. Ideal candidates will be have experience working with youth and experience with youth/families in Human Service field.


Other Responsibilities Include:

  • Conducting visits at the residences of both the client and volunteer
  • Thorough documentation of all contact with clients and volunteers
  • Implementation of outcome evaluation program
  • Linking clients and families to support services'
  • Participation in monthly agency activities

Requires:

  • Bachelor's degree required in social work or a related field
  • New York State Driver's License and personal transportation
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, as well as verbally
  • Willingness to undergo extensive screening process
  • Monday through Friday schedule ranges 9-5, 11-7, 12-8; occasional weekends
