Employment at Big Brothers Big Sisters

Josh Reed

josh reedWho Mentored You?
The person that mentored me was my mother Margaret Reed.

What is it this person did for you?
She was a single mother of 4. She taught her kids that through hard work and determination that anything is possible. Also taught us to only depend on yourself. Don't expect anything from anyone. And also that nothing is easy. The more you put into what you want, the more you'll get out.

Do you still have a relationship with this person today?
I have a very strong relationship with my mother and siblings. We have all become successful and happy. I have been fortunate to give back for everything that she has given to her kids, respect. I have also been fortunate to go even further. I've had the honor of being able to help other families through Big Brothers Big Sisters. This has been an experience of a lifetime and I will continue to help as long as I'm able.

Craig Rivet

craig rivetWho Mentored You?
"The two most important mentors in my life are my parents and they still are to this day. Their love, dedication and support have been instrumental in my development from a young boy growing up in North Bay, Ontario to becoming a professional hockey player, husband and father.

What is it this person did for you?
There have been so many lessons along the way. Throughout my life, they have taught me the value of hard-work, respect and honesty. If you put forth the effort, you will see the results in both your personal and professional life. They taught me with their actions and words. Watching how they go about their lives has been just as important to me as listening.

Do you still have a relationship with this person today?
Yes. As a father of three children, I find myself teaching my kids many of the same lessons my parents taught me. Much of their influence has an even greater impact as I get older. And I'm sure there is still a lot to learn from them!

You've been thinking about getting involved. Now that you know how easy it is and the importance of volunteering, Why not apply to be a Big today?
