Big Brothers Big Sisters operates under the belief that in every child is incredible potential.  We have been matching caring adults with local children for 50 years and have impacted the lives of over 12,000 youth.  Big Brothers Big Sisters aims to make meaningful, monitored matches between volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 5 through young adulthood in Erie, Niagara and the Southern Tier.    These quality relationships are built on friendship and trust, and are proven to be a significant positive influence in the life of the child, and the volunteer.

MISSION: Create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

VISION: All youth achieve their full potential.

Our agency appreciates the positive impact that having a Big Brother or Big Sister has for a child. Because of our volunteers, we are able to show the impact of having a Mentor has on the children in our community

  • 97.6% of the children matched were promoted to the next grade level,
  • 88.7% had a more positive attitude towards school,
  • 98.7% had improved self-confidence.

The time spent between Big and Little riding bikes, playing board games, working on a school project or just hanging out, can make a BIG difference.  Start Something Big. Learn more about becoming a Defender of Potential today.
